About the runner
Hiroaki Matsunaga is a professional trail runner from Japan with over 20 years of experience in mountain and ultra-distance racing. He has competed in major trail and ultra-running events across Europe, North America, Oceania, and Africa, achieving strong results in international competitions. Since 2006, he has served as the representative of Trail Runners, an organization based in Niigata, Japan, organizing more than 20 trail running events annually across the country. These events range from youth races to the internationally recognized DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 (160 km). His mission is to create life-changing opportunities through trail running and to connect people with nature through endurance sports.
