Three UTMB World Series Majors are held each year and these pinnacle events across the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Collect double the amount of Running Stones compared to other UTMB World Series Events for the UTMB World Series Finals lottery. In total 225 runners are also granted automatic qualification for the UTMB World Series Finals through each Major. This includes age-group category winners and the top 10 male and female runners in the 100M, 100K and 50K categories.
VAL D'ARAN BY UTMB
Set in Vielha, Spain, Val d'Aran by UTMB is already preparing its third edition. It will be made up of seven mountain races in the picturesque Pyrenees moutnains, which will place Val d'Aran as the epicentre of trail running in Europe. The Val d'Aran, known as "The Essence of the Pyrenees", is an Atlantic-facing valley in the central Pyrenees, where the Garonne River rises. It covers an area of 620 km and 30% of its territory is above 2,000 m in altitude, with peaks reaching 3,000 m, characteristics that make it a favourite place for nature lovers. Bordering France, it has a unique climate, perpetual snow, exquisite gastronomy, an own language and a strong cultural heritage.
DOI INTHANON THAILAND BY UTMB
Chiang Mai, Thailand is the backdrop for the Asia-Pacific Major for the second year. The Doi Inthanon Thailand by UTMB’s route course based around Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon. The Event showcases the local biodiversity immersing runners in local culture, allowing them to experience the peaceful ways of life of the Hmong, Pga-Gan-Yaw and Karenic tribes as well as awe-inspiring views of the terraced rice paddy fields and cool temperatures in beautiful, tropical, humid forests.
The start and finish line are at Doi Inthanon National Park Headquarters, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. Doi Inthanon is one of the most popular national parks in Thailand, famous for its waterfalls, trails, remote villages, exceptional sunsets and sunrise, birdwatching and all-year-round cold weather on higher elevations.
Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB
Set in California, USA, The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB, the american majors in 2023, and is a dual qualifier for the iconic UTMB World Series Finals taking place in Chamonix, France and the Western States 100. In addition, the Canyons 100K distance is a Western States 100 Golden Ticket race where the top two female and male finishers earn direct entry to the Western States 100. Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB starts in the historic gold-rush town of Auburn, birthplace of mountain ultras in the northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada range.
