Ultra Mediocre Runners of CanberraSponsor(s)
Open to Sponsorship OpportunitiesAbout the runner
Following Anterior Lumbar Interbody Spine Fusion surgery a few years back and having to re-learn how to do day to day tasks, inclusive of walking, each challenge being a collection of mini races, each with their own finish lines, each success enabled me to move on to the next challenge and accomplishment, long term I wanted to be able to run again as I’d previously enjoyed running as part of cross training associated with team sports participation. Fast forward years of hard work and determination and a positive mindset following successful rehabilitation and continued persistence I now find myself fortunate to be in a position to be able to successfully partake in ultra running events, with trail running my preference. In April 2022 I achieved a new PB of 102.4km at the Great Ultra Mediocre Backyard event. This is one of Australia's toughest backyard ultra trail events and I was proud of my achievement, but more so, happy to now be an inspiration and mentor to other folk coming back from injuries using running as a positive mental health and physical platform for enabling change in lives for the better. I am an advocate for healthy living, with nutrition and lifestyle paramount in supporting a positive lifestyle. @joeyrunsplaces
