Stubai Ultra Trail by UTMB joins the UTMB World Series, becoming the third event of the circuit in Austria
Chamonix, November 5th - Located in Neustift im Stubaital, in Austria’s Tyrol region, southwest of Innsbruck, Stubai Ultra Trail by UTMB will join the UTMB World Series in 2027, bringing a third UTMB experience to the heart of the Austrian Alps. The inaugural edition of the event in the circuit will take place from July 2 to 3, 2027.
Five races, five opportunities to discover the Stubai Valley and its culture
Stubai Ultra Trail by UTMB will feature five race across three distance categories, 20K, 50K and 100K, inviting runners to discover the full diversity of the Stubai Valley, from its breathtaking Tyrolean Alpine landscapes to its traditional mountain villages. Each course features a varied mix of runnable mountain trails, from forest paths and alpine meadows to exposed ridgelines and technical rocky sections.
The valley is characterised by a striking progression of landscapes, from lush valley floors, conifer forests and rushing mountain streams to rugged high-altitude terrain, towering rock formations and glaciers. With more than 100 peaks rising above 3,000 metres in the surrounding mountains, the region offers a distinctive Alpine setting where water, rock and ice shape both the scenery and the running experience. Among its most recognisable landmarks are the Kalkkögel, known as the “Dolomites of North Tyrol” for their imposing limestone towers, jagged pinnacles and steep rock faces, and the Elfer massif, whose rugged peaks overlook Neustift and the valley below.
Beyond the trails, the event will celebrate the Tyrolean heritage of the Stubai Valley. Through local voices, traditions and mountain knowledge, runners will have opportunities to connect with the local community who shape the destination.

A new opportunity to live the UTMB experience for the Austrian community
As part of the UTMB World Series, the event will uphold the circuit’s high standards of race organisation, delivering a quality runner experience from registration to the finish line. It will also reflect the circuit’s ongoing commitment to more responsible, inclusive and equitable trail running. The Stubai Valley public transport approach is an excellent example of an initiative that fosters a welcoming environment for all participants while minimising the environmental footprint of the visitors. In line with the UTMB World Series’ values, the valley benefits from a well-developed public transport network that actively encourages visitors to leave their cars behind. Thanks to the "guest card", runners, supporters and visitors will be able to use all local buses free of charge, making it easy and convenient to travel throughout the valley and to reach the race start and finish areas, enjoying the event in a more sustainable way.
