I started running at 47, after too many years of cigarettes and weekend beers. One morning I decided I’d had enough of that version of me, threw on some shoes, and ran straight into the mountains. Best choice I ever made. These days, every single weekend belongs to the high trails: steep, rocky, and quiet. The mountains don’t lie; they force you to show up as you are and leave better than you came. Every climb burns away the past; every ridge reminds me how good it feels to be fully alive. Trail running rebuilt my body and saved my mind. Up there, the noise fades, perspective returns, and I come home clearer and calmer than any therapy ever managed. Ex-smoker, ex-drinker, forever mountain runner. Still climbing. Still grateful. Still just getting started. See you out there. 🏔️
