UTMB World Series Qualifiers become UTMB Index races.
In June 2021 we launched the UTMB Index, which is now positioned at the heart of the UTMB World Series sports system. The UTMB Index allows a single metric to be used for all runners, from beginner to elite, as a way to demonstrate their race experience and their level of performance.
Until 2022, races used the UTMB World Series Qualifier logo, to indicate that their race counts for UTMB World Series Qualification. Starting in June 2022, all the UTMB World Series Qualifier races become UTMB Index races, as this better describes the sports system and status given to runners through their participation in these races. There is a new UTMB Index logo that will replace the existing qualifiers logo, (available for you to update your site and show that you are part of the UTMB Index races).
Qualification for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc
As announced in 2021, and starting for the 2023 edition, the qualification rules for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc flagship races (UTMB, CCC and OCC) have changed as they become the UTMB World Series Finals. The former qualifying system based on UTMB points no longer exists.
To enter the lottery, runners must have at least 1 Running Stone, which can exclusively be collected by finishing a UTMB World Series Events or Majors, namely the events that carry the name ‘By UTMB’. Runners must also possess a UTMB Index in a specified ‘race category’ as proof of their experience.
The UTMB Index races provide a range of new benefits and advantages to runners and throughout the UTMB World Series.
